Magic mushrooms are now being put to better use. Studies made by the doctors at the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit of Johns Hopkins University are looking for test subjects for their ongoing research into the beneficial aspects of psilocybin, the active psychogenic component of the Sacred Mushroom (popularly known as the magic mushroom) on the minds of cancer patients.They theorize that if patients can deal with their emotional and mental fear of the disease, they may be better predisposed to combat it.
Here’s where magic mushrooms come in. If administered in a controlled environment, they can improve the mental conditioning of patients for months or possibly years. Therefore with magic mushrooms as part of their treatment program, researchers hope to improve the quality of life for those stricken with the deadly disease.
Researches working on this study assure potential trial candidates that the procedure is extremely safe and risk is minimal – The side effects are well known, documented and manageable. It just goes to show that, in the right hands, any instrument or knowledge of something inherently destructive can be made beneficial to mankind. The choice is ours.
