LS Concept Car – Cheap, fuel-efficient and powerful!

What will happen when the oil reserves are over? Will we all be forced to ride a bike to go to office or a party? These are the questions that are lurking the minds of all researchers and automakers. We cannot stop the degradation of the oil reserves, but we surely can make better cars so that these reserves stay as long as possible.

With this in mind, many automakers are developing cars which cover more and consume less. Similar is the LS Concept car that is the brain child of Loremo. Loremo came up with this concept during the Geneva Auto Show that was held last year and it seems like the company might display a prototype in the Frankfurt Auto Show.

The best feature of this concept will be its ultra-fuel efficiency of around 117 mpg. That means to commute 100Km all you need is just 2 liters of fuel. The company has also conceptualized an electric car based on the LS concept that should debut by 2010.

LS Concept is derived from Low Resistance Mobility. That in layman terms mean a car which weighs less and provides extremely low drag will go more miles per gallon of fuel. Working on this technology, Loremo was able to devise a car that weighs less than 1000 pounds and is powered by a 1.5-liter two-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The engine specifications and the weight of the car not only give it a decent top speed but also runs that car up to 117 miles on a mere gallon of fuel.

Another great feature of this car is its surprisingly low price tag of just $15,000.
