Eco Factor: Zero-emission car powered by electricity.

With the world’s most important cities introducing zero-emission zones, all vehicles that are unable to run on electric engines will be banned. In a reaction to this change, Jaguar has unveiled the XJ that runs purely on electricity for a silent, zero-emission drive.

The vehicle is expected to be powered by a 145KW, 295 lb ft electric motor that is fueled by a lithium ion battery pack. As a range extender, the batteries will be topped up by a 35KW, 1.2-liter, three-cylinder generator that has been designed by Lotus for self-charging electric vehicles.

The electric drive is claimed to be good to offer a range of 600 miles, while offering a combined fuel economy of 57mpg and less than 120g/km of CO2 and a top speed of 112mph.
