Intel touts power-efficient 45nm processors

intel intros new 45nm eco friendly processors

Intel is one of the largest computer manufacturers and one of the most preferred brands. Intel Corporation has now introduced an eco-friendly processor with power efficiency and performance efficiency. This 45nm Hi-k Intel Xeon processor has its features explicit in itโ€™s name. It incorporates Hafnium-based high-k metal gate (Hi-k) formula in the millions or transistors that it uses. These are 45nm processors smaller than the conventional 65nm processors. If that gives you doubts about itโ€™s capacity, well, it can actually have 820 million transistors i.e. twice the number of transistors incorporated as that of 65nm processors. Intelโ€™s electronic products will now reduce in size by 25% and smaller being fashionable these days, Iโ€™m sure it would soon become the most-wanted. Thatโ€™s not it. The smaller (45nm) technology reduces power consumption which is the most important part.

The Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 quad core processor is the worldโ€™s first 45nm Hi-k desktop processor. But the newest ones are quad-core 45nm Hi-k Intel Xeon and dual-core processors. Both these new-comers feature a high clock speed and front side bus (FSB) speeds. The pricing of these processors is relative but given its efficiency, capacity and power efficiency, I think a few extra hundred dollars out of our pockets will be worth it.
