Indiana next in line for acquiring a 200 MW wind farm project

Wind Farms
There has been a big buzz a few days ago, about the huge wind farm, which is to be built in North Carolina, and now yet another American state is all set to revamp its wind energy potential. This time, the state of Indiana will sustainably benefit from a touted 200 MW mega wind farm, as announced by Indiana Michigan Power (I&M).

Named as the Wildcat I, this will actually be Indiana’s second large scale wind farm project. Sweeping across four counties at a stretch, this project is expected to commence sometime in late 2012. Based upon power purchase agreements (PPA), the capacity of the project will depend upon the deal made by Indiana Michigan Power with other parties such as E.ON Climate and Renewables. Anyway, the first phase is expected to have a capacity for 100 MW, with planned increase to over 200 MW in the future.
As a matter of fact, the land acquisition process went off smoothly as farmers agreed. Effort of E.ON Climate and Renewable was partly responsible for this acquisition. Moreover, the proposal has been prepared, and they have now entered the most important and auspicious phase in wind energy oriented development. Statistically, the nameplate capacity for wind power has risen from mere 174,000 MW in 2000 to 1,944,000 MW in 2010 (which is more than 11 times). United States stands second in the list of countries having maximum wind power capacity of more than 40,180 MW, and it has set up over 40 large wind farms in the past decade.
