If all goes well, you could soon be making fuel in your own backyard and run your car on it. InnovaTek, a Washington based energy solutions company has just come out with its InnovaGen fuel processor that just weighs about a single pound. Now, what the pint sized fuel processor does is, it has a Microreactor which converts almost any liquid fuel ranging from gasoline, biodiesel or why, even the cooking oil you use in your kitchen everyday to hydrogen.
Many modular microreactor’s can be combined to make one big hydrogen producing plant which can produce upto 160 gallons of hydrogen every minute. The microreactor works by combining one part of hydrocarbon and one part of water with a catalytic reactor.
This makes it possible for car manufacturers to produce more fuel celled cars, which till now were facing the non availability of hydrogen fuel stations and also the problem of storing hydrogen under very high pressure in their fuel tanks. With the InnovaGen fuel processor, producing hydrogen on the go, in our very own cars will now become possible and with it the hopes of a cleaner, greener and a healthier environment.
