Humanity’s future could depend on weed!

I know whet you are thing and this is not the same ‘weed’ that you are thinking about. This is clean, still unwanted but nothing that will intoxicate and kill you. The future of human energy needs (at least the immediate future) might depend heavily on the weeds that are often such a pest to deal with for farmers and authorities across the planet. But many firms believe that they are the ones that could provide us with tons of biofuel in future and that is great news for many across the planet.

It is no new revelation that the world is struggling to put up with its energy needs and we cannot derive biofuel from food crops either. That makes weeds a wonderful option for everyone. They grow in plenty and they grow damn fast and they will keep coming back very easily and nothing much can kill them. NO maintenance and high yield is all they are!

Kudzu is an extremely fast growing plant, usually considered a weed that can grow up two inches a day. A native plant of China, it was first introduced to the USA in 1876. It was planted extensively in the southern United States to prevent soil erosion. Fast forward to today, and Kudzu is everywhere in the South, growing out of control and messing up the local ecosystems. But now the same plant is being used to produce biofuel. Recently New Zealand Airlines told that it intended to fly on of its planes on Jatropha biofuel. Jatropha is a common weed in India. The future looks full of weed!
