The idea of water conservation while bathing has taken newer meanings. Usage of bucket than a shower and turning off the faucet while brushing are yesteryear recommendations. The latest one is an American patent, The United States patent 634629.
G. Hallum, the conceiver of the idea, apparently drew an analogy between human bathing and car washing. The principle behind car washing is to recycle the used water and hence prevent wastage so why not apply the same to human bathing practices? He places special emphasis on executing this plan at hospitals for infirmed patients. To place them on a conveyor belt and hold them by a harness from an overhead trail, soap and rinse and then blow dry these patients is both convenient and hygenic. Price cut for expenditure on towels, water recycled and patients are bathed and fresh. Sounds like a good deal.
Although communal bathing remains largely unheard of and the concept might not be the most acceptable socially, with a reform here and there it can be made feasible. In a world predominantly driven by exploiting natural resources one can once in a while tolerate a little disturbance for mother earth, right? So conserve the spirit of conservation and bring on the ideas, in today’s world, they are very much needed!
