The car has a petrol engine and is also supplemented by batteries that charge while the car is idling. In hybrid cars, the integrated electric motor aids the engine by giving it a boost during acceleration, thus helping to improve fuel economy.
Hence, they are more environmentally friendly than standard vehicles! In order to minimize emissions, Honda’s hybrid engine also runs the car at idle. The problem lies elsewhere. The car manufacturers are worried that it is lack of awareness, which is putting car buyers off hybrids.
