Eco Factor: Solar power project to generate 1000MW of renewable electric power.

GUVNL, the apex state utility of the Indian state of Gujarat, has inked a plan to build the “Gujarat Solar Park” on 3000 acres of land in Charanaka, a village nestled in the corner of Patan district in north Gujarat. The project, which requires an investment of about $1.78 billion, will generate close to 1000MW of renewable electric power.

The Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd is currently in the process of entering agreements with 80 solar power project investors, many of which will set up their generation facilities ranging 1-45MW units at the solar park. The solar park is expected to have the basic infrastructure in place by December.
