Most of the commercial structures out in the big cities across the globe just do not realize the potential they have when it comes to tapping into solar power. This is all the more true when you are looking at parking spaces, shopping complexes and malls with giant rooftops doing nothing with that vast space on offer. But this cool urban mall design from Andrea Polato, Laia Torrente Ribé and Nadia Saglietti brings every possible green element to the design of modern malls.

The entire structure is designed in a fashion where it utilizes every spec of space available. There is giant light tube at the top that allows for natural lighting to flow through the building. Then the skylights and smart windows allow for as much natural ventilation as possible eliminating a need for artificial lighting and ventilation. Even the basement uses natural lighting thanks to vents in the pathway.

The rooftop is filled with photovoltaic panels that supply energy for the building’s needs continuously. Also window solar flakes constantly produce energy while still allowing you to have great views of the city. Balconies are filled with flora, which gives the structure fresh air, green look and beautiful walkways.

There will also be an electric vehicle charging station that will charge up your electric cars and bikes in a jiffy. This is aimed at encouraging green transportation for emission-free roads of tomorrow. The structure will house offices, parking spaces, recharge stations and a lot more and looks like you can even improvise and customize.
