Green Leaf Inn hotel is powered entirely by self-generated renewable energy

Green Leaf Inn

A couple – Fritz Kreiss and Catherine McQueen – would be soon building their dream building which would be one among the most ‘green’ hotels in the entire USA. The hotel – a 19-room building is called The Green Leaf Inn located in rural Delavan – will actually generate enough energy to run the entire hotel. The hotel premises already have a wind turbine that is functioning along with other sustainable qualities.

Along with wind energy, the Green Leaf Inn will also utilize solar energy and geothermal energy in order to generate cool and warm air, electricity as well as hot water. Hence, there is no question of this hotel polluting the environment. The sustainable features that make the hotel an ecofriendly option include a massive underground tank that can store rainwater up to 30,000 gallons for watering purposes and toilets.

The hotel has battery powered cars that will also have a charging station; a waste water treatment system and suites with smart energy systems that close automatically when the guests leave. The Green Leaf Inn is located on the state Highway 50 and will be an ideal weekend getaway for couples, for official retreats and meetings that require a peaceful location and particularly for people who are close to nature.

The hotel is a great way of projecting that luxurious living can still be achieved in a green way without harming the environment. Kreiss is presently operates a consulting firm called Alternative Utility Services Inc along with another firm that promotes renewable and sustainable energy at Lake Geneva. Such eco-friendly hotels like the Green Leaf Inn are very few and constitute only a small percentage of the country’s lodging industry and Kreiss and his wife believe that the hotel’s 100% sustainability would be the selling point that would attract people from places beyond Wisconsin.
