Geo thermal Energy- An Ideal Source of Renewable Energy

temperature inside earth

Geothermal energy is made up from the heat of earth. Billions of years ago, mixture of dust and gases resulted into geothermal energy. Do you know that, at the core of earth temperature is approximately 9,000 F? And its heat has outward flow, which is transferred in all the adjoining rock layers. They are called mantle.

With the subsequent rise in pressure and temperature, rock keeps melting and the final resultant is magma. This hot magma drift towards the surface of earth and becomes lava. Maximum amount of lava remain below the surface of earth and keep heating rocks and water around. When this hot water comes to the surface of earth, it emerges as hot springs or geysers.

This hot water has immense pressure and can effectively exert huge force to spin turbine, which is being connected to generator for producing electricity. Now, cooled water comes back to reservoir for re-heating.

Geothermal energy has been used for various purpose, such as bathing, relaxing and cooking. In earlier times, people thought it has healing effects for the treatment of eye and skin problems. In the year 1904, in Italy first geothermal generator was manufactured, whereas 1912 marked first geothermal power in California.

There are various geothermal underground waters, but it demands huge exploration and testing. Construction of geothermal plants and wells is quite expensive. But, generation of electricity will be pocket friendly. The United States is the leading producer of geothermal energy.

In the coming years, Geothermal energy will become the best source of renewable energy. Competitive price and eco-friendliness are its major lights. Moreover, with the considerable depletion of fossil fuels and rise in harmful gases, geothermal energy is undoubtedly the ideal source of energy!
