General Motors shakes hands with solar power

In Fontana, General Motors have taken a huge step towards the green revolution by opting for solar power in its Service and Parts Operations warehouse. Here, approximately half of the electrical power will be offered by the solar power.

This solar powered 300,000 sq foot of warehouse will be started from December. This significant step will enable the GM to rule the industry consistently. It is also planning to make solar installation an active part of GM Service and Parts Operations warehouse in Rancho Cucamonga.

In order to create the solar array of Fontana, GM has collaborated with Constellation Energy and Project Services. It is a long term contract for the buying generated electricity.

This solar array will effectively enable GM to get environment friendly energy without making huge investments. GM is also estimating that approximately 355 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions will also be reduced in Fontana. Along with significant amount of reduction in the percentage of electricity costs.

The solar array system will effectively generate 1.3 million kilowatt electricity for 500 homes. Moreover, it also predicted that extra electricity will be generated in accordance with the rising demands.
