The Apnea can stay underwater for two months and can ferry up to 12 passengers, including a captain and two assistants. The streamlined design offers low drag coefficient that further reduces energy demands. As a backup, the submarine also includes a battery pack, which can power the electric motors if the hydrogen fuel cell depletes.
