Firm awarded for developing green Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide as you all must already know is a home antiseptic and cleanser. Though the product itself does not pose any threat to the environment, its making procedure does.

When hydrogen peroxide is created from various chemicals, some toxic waste ingredients are also left behind. These pose a threat to the already degrading environment of our planet. To make it a complete green product, some researchers were working on ways to improve the making procedure of hydrogen peroxide.

This team of researchers was working for almost a decade in a 40,000-square-foot brick lab alongside Southbound Route 1 near the Trenton Border in Lawrence. They all shared a common aim to develop hydrogen peroxide in a much cleaner and cheaper way than ever before. They knew that the answers to their questions lied in the exploration of a completely different field of science known as ‘Nanotechnology’.

The result of this hard work came and came good. They were able to create hydrogen peroxide without leaving any toxic residues behind. This innovation has been recognized by the U.S. government and has received the country’s highest environmental award in a ceremony held in Washington on June 26.

Bing Zhou, the president of Headwaters Technology Innovation, won the Presidential Green Chemistry Award from the Environmental Protection Agency. He stated that environmental work has been his passion and he started working with hydrogen peroxide 17 years ago.

This innovation has received two other awards as well and has also captured the attention of several other manufactures who might be interested in developing green hydrogen peroxide to clean homes without harming the environment in the process.
