Some design concepts give way to ostentatious ornamentations, but very few among them actually serve any purposeful criteria. Well the Spanish green architectural firm Urbanarbolism in collaboration with Paisajismo Urbano have sought to correct, and in a way redefine that by conceiving Spain’s largest indoor vertical garden which will also act as an air cleanser.
Constructed in the courtyard of an office building in Elche, this conscientious composition is actually three stories high! The courtyard was selected because of its offering of natural light and also as the focal point of the whole office. This is where the garden would provide that eloquent sense of visual aesthetics to the stressed out employees, from all perspectives.
But it is not all about ‘looks’. The plants and shrubs that compose this unique garden are explicitly selected for their attributes – of filtering out pollutants and maintaining the balance of Carbon Dioxide in air. The plants include Bamboo Plant, Chinese Evergreen, English Ivy, Ficus, Peace Lily etc. So at last we are fortunate enough to come across a design that imbues – naturalistic beauty with dollops of efficiency.
