Eco Factor: Electric monoplane gets power from AGNI 112 R electric motor.
The Association for Promotion of Flying Ladders modified its old prototype to give company to the Concorde at the Green Air Show in Le Bourget, Paris. The monoplane was earlier used for the test flights of the group’s original combustion-powered Demoichelle in 2009, but is now back with a new green twist.
The new modifications given to APEV’s electric monoplane include some Lithium Polymer KOKAM 74V batteries, a reinforced AGNI 112 R electric motor replacing the ROTAX engine. In addition, the wings have received an extra half a meter on each side, taking the wingspan to over 9 meters.
Standing 2 meters tall and over 5 meters long, the e-Demoichelle reaches to a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The average cruising speed is claimed to be 70kph. The public will get an opportunity to see the electric Demoichelle in September at the Salon ULM Blois. APEV plans to develop a two-seater biplane and a modern replica of the Piper Cub in a few months.
