Eco Factor: System uses used vegetable oil to generate heat and energy.

Bio-fuel isn’t the only product that can be prepared from waste vegetable oil if systems like the Vegawatt are installed in every restaurant of the world. The system makes use of waste and vegetable oil and converts it into clean heat and energy for restaurants. The designers of the system claim that it can produce up to 25% of the electricity needed to run a small restaurant.

At the size of a refrigerator, the system hooks up easily on-site and not only produces useful energy but also eliminates the need to dispose of used oil in an efficient manner, which can both be messy and costly. The system puts used oil through a 4-stage filtering process which converts used oil into energy. Designed for a small restaurant with up to five deep fryers, the machine can generate $800 worth of electricity every month.

The Dark Side:

The system is good for small restaurants with up to five deep fryers, but larger restaurants which do waste more, can’t do much with their wastage.
