Solaroad Technologies has developed new a kind of solar module for highways that can generate electricity even at night by converting light from headlights of cars into electricity. Electrawall, as the system has been named, comes in a circular shape, which the company claims allows the system to generate much more energy than flat panels. The energy generated by the Electrawall is stored in batteries for use.
The company says the system can easily be placed alongside jersey barriers for maximum sun and headlight exposure. The inventor also claims that a million-foot-long Electrawall can match the output of a small nuclear power plant. Apart from being efficient, the technology has been developed in a way that allows it to be deployed very quickly and effectively.
