Eco Factor: Natural-gas-fired power plant to be erected in Slovakia.

Siemens Energy has announced that the company will be erecting a combined cycle power plant in Slovakia that will be powered by natural gas. The power plant is to be developed for E.ON as a turnkey project. The plant will have a gross installed capacity of 430MW, enough to power about 600,000 households with ecofriendly electricity.

The plant, dubbed SCC5-4000F 1 S, will feature gas turbine technology that not only has a proven track record worldwide but that has also practically become a tradition in the partnership between E.ON and Siemens. The power plant will have an efficiency of about 58%, which is a top world ranking today. This plant will thus make an important contribution toward reliable, cost-effective and eco-friendly power supply in Slovakia.

The SCC5-4000F 1 S power plant will feature a single-shaft configuration and a modular design to make it adapt easily to meet specific customer and site requirements. The power plant is scheduled to come online in 2010.
