Eco Factor: Piezoelectric devices to convert kinetic energy into usable electricity.
Researchers at the City College of New York are planning small-scale piezoelectric devices that can be mounted on the roof or tail or a car or on an airplane fuselage and convert the vibrations into usable electricity.
Measuring about half-inch by one inch the devices won’t be able to replace the power output of conventional engines, but can provide renewable energy to power some systems such as control panels or portable electronic devices.
