Eco Factor: Device harnesses a bike’s waste energy.

To harness the energy that goes to waste whenever you are biking your way home, designer Evan Grant has developed the ReCycle concept energy harnessing system. The ReCycle can be installed on a normal bike, and it captures the kinetic energy generated while you pedal your bike or if you are biking on a bumpy road.

The device consists of three micro generators to harness the movement and convert it into useful energy and a lithium-ion battery that stores all that movement in the form of electricity. Once you are back home, you can remove the battery from your bike and use it to charge your cellphones or your iPod. Pretty neat, huh?

The Dark Side:

The energy generated during the movement of your bike won’t any day be enough to light up your home. However, if the same device is installed in cars or other machines which are used for much longer can definitely have a greater eco-impact.
