Eco Factor: Energy-efficient desktop computer from MSI.

Realizing the importance of green gadgets in today’s era, MSI has launched an ecofriendly version of their Wind Nettop computer, the MSI Wind Nettop CS120. Coming in a compact package, the system carries the punch of an Intel Atom 230 1.6GHz processor, 160GB hard drive and 1GB of memory, which can be expanded to a max of 2GB.

Most importantly, the system consumes just 35W of power when at full load, which is about one-tenth the energy consumed by a conventional desktop PC. Other features integrated in the package include 7.1-channel HD sound output, integrated Wi-Fi, card reader, 6 USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet and VGA out. The system will soon be available with an MRSP of $319.99.

The Dark Side:

The computer does save a lot of energy, but combined with an energy-guzzling LCD, the system’s overall performance will not be as green as one would really want.
