Eco Factor: Hydrogen fueling stations to be built in London in efforts to promote the use of hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Hydrogen has for long been touted as the green fuel of tomorrow, however the lack of adequate infrastructure has kept things down. London Mayor Boris Johnson has announced plans to create UK’s first “Hydrogen Highway”, which will help in gearing up the city for the next-generation of green vehicles.

As a part of the scheme about six hydrogen fueling stations will be built in different locations of the capital and a pilot fleet of about 150 hydrogen-powered cars, five buses and 20 black taxis will be used in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics. Johnson doesn’t just rest here, as he believes that in twenty years up to one in every three of the 31million cars in Britain will be powered by hydrogen.
