Eco Tech: Leviathan Energy increases wind turbine output without increasing its size

Eco Factor: Wind Energizer by Leviathan Energy increases wind output by 30%.

Wind turbine designers have always believed that the best way to increase the output of a wind turbine is to increase the size of the blades. However, with a dearth of available land, the size cannot be increased much. Daniel Farb, the CEO of Leviathan Energy, has developed a practical solution that he calls the “Wind Energizer.” Farb believes that instead of increasing the size of the blades, the environment around the wind turbine should be modified to ensure that the highest velocity wind hits the blades.

The Wind Energizer is a donut-shaped structure made from steel and plastic, and its exact dimensions depend on the specifications of the turbine, such as its height and the length of the blades. The structure shapes the flow of wind to make sure that the highest velocities hit the blades. The company has measured an average increase of 20-40% in the output, but at lower wind speeds the turbine generates a whopping 150% more output. The company claims that the amount spent on the structure would easily be earned back in four to five years, which isn’t much considering the lifespan of a wind turbine.
