Eco Factor: Bioreactor generates biofuel from algae.

Modern technology, no matter how advanced it might be, depends on energy and fuel for survival. The overdependence on technological innovations and the rapid decline in fossil fuel reserves has made inventors think of alternative ways of generating fuel that can keep all those products moving.

Emergent Architecture is out there with a way to generate biofuel from algae in a unique bioreactor that looks more like artwork rather than a fuel-producing system. The Flower Street BioReactor is based on the Bio-feedback Algae Controller, invented by OriginOil, which uses LED light to maintain optimum conditions for algae growth. Algae utilize the process of photosynthesis to produce biofuel, which can be utilized in many ways.

The LEDs are fueled by a solar array, which collects the energy of the sun throughout the day and makes the system a truly sustainable way to produce ecofriendly fuel. The installation will be set up in a shop window on a Los Angeles street and is intended to be completed by 2010.
