Eco Factor: Ecofriendly service station captures solar energy and saves water.
The Emirates National Oil Company is planning to open the Middle East’s first ecofriendly service station that will be equipped with state-of-the-art environmental systems, including a solar array to power lighting systems and a waterless car-washing system.
The service station will open its door in the first half of next year at Emirates Hills in Dubai. The station will feature an art vapor recovery system that prevents any toxic fumes from being released into the atmosphere. A solar array will power lamps, which will need a replacement once in 12 years.
Furniture will be made from recycled materials and a waste management system will also be introduced to encourage proper recycling and reuse. The company is also planning to install a sound barrier to reduce noise pollution.
