Eco Factor: Protective sheets for PV systems are tougher and stiffer than typical PV encapsulants.
DuPont, the company that has the largest portfolio of photovoltaic materials in the solar energy industry, is not just making new advances in solar panels to make them easy to install, more efficient and cheap, but is also trying to better the technology making it more reliable and strong thereby increasing panel life by more than just a couple of years. The company has announced the development of a two new encapsulant sheets which deliver long-term protection for the most sensitive part of PV modules – the solar cells.
The durable PV encapsulant sheets make panels last long and also reduce the cost-per-watt of solar cells. The company hopes that their PV sheets offer manufacturers a more reliable and a cost-effective solar protection system. The protection sheets are made available in two version – the DuPont PV5300 that have been designed for right panels installations including solar roof tiles, and the PV5200 that are designed for the thin-film solar industry.
