Eco Factor: Electric go-kart reaches speeds in excess of 60mph.
If you think electric engines are green but slow at the same time and can’t actually be used to power vehicles which are known to be thrilling, a teenage boy, Mfanday, has marked all these statements wrong by developing a 50KW electric go-kart.
The machine is powered by eight 12V deep cycle batteries and a 48V 100 amp PWM motor controller, which enables the vehicle to reach a top speed of over 60mph. No word on for how long the built-in systems can generate that whopping power, but the system does demonstrate the potential of electric engines.
