Here comes this interesting environment-friendly house looking like a pod. Designed by inventor/ builder Aidan Quinn, the pod is fitted with solar panels on its roof. The panels heat the water. It also has a wind turbine that is used to generate power and a wood burning stove as an emergency service when there is no wind blowing.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Aidan said,

I have always wanted to build a house and it seemed to me that there had to be a way of doing it more efficiently to not only cut down CO2 pollution during construction but also running costs. Our homes are responsible for creating 27 per cent of carbon dioxide emissions and that clearly is not sustainable. I wanted to find a better way to live.

Sections of the pod are made of polyurethane that is blown into moulds. The moulds are then bolted together, been sprayed with lightweight concrete of 60mm thick. This gives the structure both strength and insulation.

The ‘eco-pod house’ as seen is covered with tiles. The tiles used are also contributes towards the environment as are made from recycled car tyres.
