Eco Factor: Zero-emission chopper powered by electricity.

Choppers are known for their distinctive looks and noisy engines that make you hear they’re coming from a mile away. Not this one though, as Orange County Choppers has built an all-electric chopper which uses electronics provided by Siemens.

Siemens claims that the bike has a 60-mile range and a top speed of 100mph. The bike comes with an onboard charging unit that can be plugged into any 110-volt socket, which charges its batteries in five hours. Obviously, the recharge time can be reduced by using a high-voltage station.

The electric chopper is packed with a single-speed, clutch-less transmission that uses the power from a 27-hp electric motor. The LED lighting is provided by OSRAM. Other Siemens’ systems used in the bike include the electric motor, charging system, power management system and wind turbine blade fiberglass.
