Portuguese design group Studio Veríssimo have found a rather novel use for the humble single-use plastic stirrer used by the millions at most fancy coffee joins these days. The clever designers used the almost insignificant bits of plastic and upcycled it to make a stunning chandelier. Of course it really helps that the stirrers stringed together look like the most expensive flute crystals from afar.

Named the Spoon, the chandelier has already received rave reviews at the Touch NY exhibition during New York Design Week for its inspired ingenuity. Though the designers did not reveal a retail price for their brilliant creation, I’m sure it will inspired a whole bunch of people to collect their own plastic stirrers and who knows, we might even see something like this featured on a dress at an upcoming fashion even! Swarovski better watch out!
