Eco Factor: Home built from trashed beer bottles.

We’ve probably seen hundreds of uses of old beer bottles, and though many DIYers plan out products that take no more than a few weeks to build there are more patient recyclers that opt for an extreme approach. If the 25-year DIY to build a temple from more than a million beer bottles is just too much for you, Jenna Mack’s venture should be more than just an inspiration. Collecting building material doesn’t make Jenna go to a hardware store, but to parties and fairs where there is no dearth of beer and eventually empty beer bottles.

Being planned in West Virginia, the home won’t take decades to build, but will use DIY skills that not many possess. Scheduled to be built in less than one year, the home should be a stepping stone for more adventurous architecture that should provide more space. The plan is to build a cabin measuring 16’x 20’ using amber bottles with cobalt accents. The project will need up to 18,000 beer bottles and will be powered entirely by solar energy.
