Eco Factor: Water saving toilet design.

Researchers predict that by the year 2025 about 2,800 million people living in over 41 countries will lack access to safe drinking water. Some designers have made use of their skills to develop concept products that can make sea water potable, but mostly all of them are either too expensive or too unrealistic to enter the production lines anytime soon. For now the best way to avoid water-less tomorrow is to make use of products that save fresh water from being used in non-potable processes.

Industrial designer Ariel Roja has come up with a water saving toilet design that makes use of grey water to flush. Tlalock integrates a sink over the flush tank, thereby saving over 83% fresh water from going down the drain. The designer estimates that using this system a family of four can save up to 17,520 liters of clean water annually.
