Eco Factor: Ferris wheel powered by pedals.
Designed by Paul Cesewski, the Star Wheel is a unique Ferris wheel that isn’t powered by electricity or fossil-fuels but by clean power generated by the people who’re sitting in any of the three seats available.
The 2000-pound, 22-foot-tall Ferris wheel is designed with three seats that are located within a larger wheel that makes the system mobile. The seats are equipped with a bicycle drivetrain and a seatbelt. Pedaling pushes the seats around a fixed sprocket and when all three seats are occupied and are pedaled, gravity takes over and the structure starts to move.
