Eco Factor: Interactive game teaches the worth of solar energy.
Designed by Antonno Versteeg, SolarDJ is an interactive game focused at visitors of outdoor festivals. While playing the game, the four participants have to outperform their competitors in catching the sunrays with their own solar panel. The solar panel of each participant is connected to the main module. The better the participant catches the sunrays, the louder the corresponding soundtrack (instrument) is going to play through the sound system located in the main module.
Besides the volume control that is in relation with the amount of energy generated by the solar panel, the participant can go to a higher level in the “game.” SolarDJ works with samples that have different levels of intensity. By being for a longer time the person that “harvests” the most energy, the participant can jump to a higher level and even to solo parts.
SolarDJ has been developed as one of the interactive devices that are to be placed in the Entertain & Sustain Tower of Power. This tower, which will travel over several outdoor festivals in the Netherlands, provides visitors of festivals the opportunity to play with energy and learn the worth of solar and other renewable forms of energy.
