Eco Factor: Sharp’s new Blu-ray player consumes just 0.5 watts in standby mode.
Sharp has introduced another Blu-ray player complementing the company’s sophisticated range of Blu-ray players – The BDHP21H. The company claims that this new player makes movies at home look livelier than ever before. Apart from standard Blu-ray features like HDMI and Dolby True HD, the player is high on energy efficiency. The company has claimed that the player puts its competitors to shame by just consuming 27 watts during operation and a mere 0.5 watts when running in standby mode. The player bears a price tag of about $382.
The Dark Side:
The high cost of the players and the disks are major drawbacks. Moreover, the device won’t have much effect on your energy consumption if you own an energy intensive HDTV.
