The ThermaProof windows launched by Serious Materials aim at doing exactly that. They cut the energy needs of a home’s cooling or heating system by 40%, as they provide excellent insulation. The new eco-windows are already on the market and ready for sale. The company says that the windows would help the owners save $100,000 over their lifetime in the form of electricity bills, if they use them in a proper fashion!
The Dark Side:
The ThermaProof windows alone would do little to help you cut down on insulation costs. You would need a comprehensive and well-planned home to actually achieve the figures stated by Serious Materials.
