Eco Factor: Concept umbrella harnesses raindrops for electricity.

Designer Sang-Kyun Park has designed an umbrella that does much more that protecting the user from rain. Known as the LightDrops, the umbrella has been designed to harness the energy of falling rain drops and convert it into electricity to light up some LEDs to illuminate the umbrella. As water hits the surface of the umbrella, a conductive membrane called the PDVF comes into action and transforms that energy into electricity that finally is consumed by the LEDs embedded into the umbrella fabric, preventing your clothes from a pothole disaster.

The Dark Side:

The idea seems brilliant but the application is just weird. If the designer is able to prove the worthiness of the idea of harnessing raindrops to power even a single 20watt incandescent lamp then we just might say WOW!
