Eco Factor: Energy-saving mini desktop PC.
The fit-PC2i nettop is arriving on the market soon and is reportedly one of the most energy-efficient mini PCs, with a rated consumption of just 8W even at full load. Measuring just 4″ x 4.5″ x 1.05″ and weighing under a pound, the mini PC is also the world’s smallest dual gigabit Ethernet-equipped PC.
The fit-PC2i is powered by an Intel Atom Z5xx CPU (from 1.1GHz to 2GHz), and carries up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM and a 2.5-inch HDD. On the connectivity side, the mini PC features audio in/out, built-in Wi-Fi, four USB 2.0 ports and runs Windows 7. The rugged machine is encased in a 100% aluminum die-cast body.
The company claims that the mini PC consumes 8W at full load, 6W at low load and under 1W at standby. The units are expected to be on the market after January 2010 and will be priced between $245 and $499 based on the hardware and software options.
