iPod docks are many but there are only a handful that can be termed green. The Active Trax audio player is just one of them. The small device is an actually a mini amplifier/radio that can be connected to your iPod to make it serve as an iPod dock. The player can be recharged via a conventional AC socket or a solar panel resting on top of the speaker and above all it can also be recharged by cranking it up by hand for late night music during camping. The company claims that a fully charged battery means about seven hours of nonstop music. The player retails for $39.95.
The Dark Side:
Coming in a small package and at a cheap prize, the music quality of this device will not be to your liking. However, the price tag and the use of renewable energy should surely be able to attract some eco-minded individuals.
