Eco-friendly daily organic dump compost!

dd1

We all know how to keep our houses clean but very little we do to help the environment as a whole. We still have those huge dumping grounds around the corner. A new start-up in Bangalore, India, hopes to arm consumers with products and services to empower them toward a simple solution for reducing landfill waste: composting. The daily dump offers an array of decorative composting containers that can be used in the home to manage organic household waste and convert it to useful high-quality compost. What’s more, they offer a full range of service plans for customers wary of braving the ordeal on their own.

How does composting benefit the Earth?

Research shows that harmful emissions are reduced if large volumes of organic waste are scientifically managed and converted to compost. The resultant compost is very rich in nutrients for the earth and replenishes top soil without adverse side effects.
Also, composting reduces your volume of waste that you throw out. After you convert your organic waste into compost, you can reuse the compost in your garden. There the compost recycles nutrients back into the soil and plant life. Increased plant growth helps to restore the green cover of your neighborhood. This way composting benefits the earth.

What can go in? What can’t?

The project is a brainchild of Poonam Bir Kasturi, who writes that Daily dump is about creating a new perception of “waste” and “enabling dignified action”. Individual households, where the composting process gets a bit out of hand, Daily Dump also offers a home visit service where a person will come and advise you how to go about composting.

Unemployment and poverty is on a boom in developing countries. Composting pots and vessels made of biodegradable terracotta in a variety of shapes and sizes can be purchased and help in generating employment opportunities.

Go ahead; don’t let your household waste go waste! Do your bits to reduce garbage and improve your environment – your children deserve a better world!
