Eco-friendly battery that never needs replacing!

nanotube filaments on the batterys electrodes

Hey, the environmentalists! Here is a great solution to the post-consumer battery-wastes that add on to the landfills’ toxicity. It is brought by the MIT boffins. Relieving the landfills, ‘perhaps for ever” from battery wastes, they have come up with a battery that recharges itself in just a few seconds! To add to it, the battery is rechargeable to the extent that it might never need replacing!

To prevent the battery from losing its capacity to charge and discharge after several times, the researchers covered the electrodes with nano-tubes. And this increased the surface area, which enabled the capacitor to store more energy.

The technology is just the right solution for laptops, hearing aids and cars powered by batteries.
