Eco Factor: Car powered by electric engine.

The use of electric in-wheel motors, has not only proved to be an eco-efficient way to power our cars in the future, but also allows designers to develop concepts without worrying about the position of the engine and the overall shape of the car. In a bid to conserve energy, designers have always focused on reducing the overall weight of the car, which in most cases is reduced in the form of a wheel.

Apart from enhancing fuel-efficiency, a three-wheeled design also solves traffic problems as with better maneuverability, these cars are easy to park. Designer Juan Trillo has taken the “Three-Wheel” concept into a form he calls the Peugeot Q. The car is a 2 seat compact hatchback, where the main focus is on easy maneuverability that adapts to the evolving cities, and system efficiency.

With a free spherical rear wheel, the car can literally spin 360 degrees, which ease parking and driving in congested city lanes. The two wheels on the front are incorporated with lithium-ion engine, which gives the car the ability to change direction based on the transmitted velocity.

The Dark Side:

In an effort to reduce the size of the car, the designer has sacrificed safety. With nothing other than a thin sheet of metal protecting the driver, a head-on collision in this car will most likely prove fatal.
