Eco Factor: Prototype car designed to run on electricity.
Manufacturers of industrial lifting equipment, Toronto Electric, have unveiled Option 1, a sporty two-seater prototype car at the PHEV’09. The compact electric city-car’s drivetrain can be adapted to employ in-wheel motors and probably a range-extender as well.
The vehicle is powered by a 27KWh battery pack, which provides a range of about 130 miles. Propelled by a 49KW AC motor, the Option 1 can go from zero to 60kph in just four seconds. The vehicle is also equipped with an LED touchscreen instrument panel that provides GPS services and access to Google maps. A second panel provides information about the other instruments.
