Eco Factor: Vertical farm uses algae to generate biofuel.
The dependence on fossil fuels needs a break, so governments are shifting their focus on better sources to generate better fuels. Bio-fuel made from algae can be the answer only if there is enough land to cultivate these fuel-producing plants. Designers at UPI-2M are sure that finding land space to cultivate algae at that scale isn’t possible, so they’ve tried to focus toward the sky.
Based in Croatia, UPI-2M has proposed vertical farms, dubbed Biooctanic, that utilize bamboo and algae to give the best bio-fuel production results. The fuel produced won’t just be ecofriendly, but will also reduce transportation costs and related air pollution.
These biofuel factories will also create artificial conditions that maximize plant growth and oxygen generation. The designers also believe that the tower’s architectural appearance will be an added value primarily to the conscience of the city inhabitants.
