Eco Factor: Residential building that generates more solar electricity than it consumes.

Designers over at Mario Cucinella Architects have come up with a green residential building for the Habiter Ecologique exhibition held at the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris. Covering an area of about 1780-square-meters, the building carries several sustainable features to lower its carbon footprint.

The building is conceived as a series of overlapping timber layers and carries a façade of protruding boxes that create a dynamic elevation with private protected terraces. The opposite side on the other hand is more calm and ordered.

The building houses a kindergarten, a restaurant and a bar on the ground floor and has a roof garden for all inhabitants to share. The building carries photovoltaic panels that generate more energy than what the building actually requires. In addition to generating on-site energy, the building makes use of sustainable materials and hi-tech insulation, which reduces its energy demand.
