Eco Factor: Sustainable housing project for a 42-hectare site in Darlington.

FAT (Fashion Architecture Taste) has developed a masterplan for the redevelopment of Lingfield Point, a 42-hectare site in Darlington County Durham. This new architecture would better the carbon statistics of the area with a 100% carbon neutral housing project. Apart from several residences, the project will also feature community centers, shops, restaurants and healthcare facilities.

The project not only provides sustainable housing for humans but also takes wildlife into consideration. The place will be enhanced by an eco-corridor to encourage wildlife alongside the tracks of sports and cultural facilities.

The Dark Side:

The architecture firm has proved that rebuilding an old site to make it sustainable and green is not that difficult. However, the architecture firm has not made any statement about where the community will get energy and water from. We do expect the use of renewable energy generators.
