Eco Factor: Tower equipped with algae-filled eco pods to produce bio-fuel.

The demand for fuel and the criticism growing food crops for fuel has faced, architects have started envisioning structure that will be equipped with algae to produce bio-fuel. Emergent Architects recently showcased their concept structure that would generate a little quantity of bio-fuel and today we have Höweler + Yoon Architecture and Squared Design team up for a vertical tower that will do the same.

The tower will be equipped with “Eco Pods” that would act as a center to test new algae species and different growing methods. Robotic arms attached to the building will continuously move pods around to optimize conditions for algae to grow. Voids created behind will be covered up using public parks of botanical gardens.

The robotic arms will also feed on the biofuel produced by the building and the remainder could be used to power vehicles. Once the construction is complete, the pods could be taken apart and reinstalled on another building for producing biofuel elsewhere.
